    What is pass-by traffic counting?

Pass-by counting was developed to help retailers gain visibility on store opportunities, i.e., how many people pass in front of their current location. SMS Storetraffic customers know what their door traffic (walk-In) is but were missing what the Pass-by Traffic (people passing in front of the location) is. By installing a compatible traffic counter to measure this pass-by traffic, retailers are now able to calculate their capture rate (door traffic / pass-by traffic)

    Use Cases

Measure: How many people pass in front of your location.
Location Example: Your location is in a mall, strip-mall or street location and you want to determine how many people pass-by in front of your store in the mall or on the street compared to how many people are entering your location.

Measure: How many people walk into a building where your store is located that then enter in your store.
Locations Example: Pro shop in an arena/stadium the pass-by counter counts what is entering the arena/stadium and then the normal mode counter counts what is entering the shop.  This is to determine; how many people are captured by the shop compared to those who actually enter the arena.

Measure: How many people who visit a Store then venture into a particular showroom, venue ...ect.
Location Example: You have a furniture store with a counter mounted at the entrance to determine how many people are walking into you store. Then have a 2nd counter installed monitoring a showroom entrance for that same store in normal mode.  The Store entrance traffic is then compared to the Showroom traffic.

    F.A.Q.

    Q: Why should I measure pass-by?
A: Some retailers engage very high expenses on remodels; store move or even closure. Pass-by measurement will allow you to evaluate the underlying potential of your store for a minimal investment.

Q: Will the data be accurate?
A: It will depend on mounting height and area to cover – please refer to 3D angle mounting assess and feel free to contact success@storetraffic.com with your measurements so we can advise.

Q: How close do I need to get the traffic counter to the store front window?
A: As close as possible, without any visual obstruction in its view. With measurements, our team can provide advise (see previous question).

Q: Is calibration different from a door traffic counter?
A: Placement is special (angle, view) and SMS technical team will need to work closely with the installation tech while still onsite, as the counter can sometimes need to be slightly moved to increase coverage.

    Q: Can I use Pearl for pass-by?
